the band here playing cnn. when people realize that had president obama got the second term, they said he is the son of kenya. the son of south africa. we spend some time with mama obama. she is the grandmother of president obama. we spent time watching those votes coming in. overnight last night in a house here. there is a sense of relief and of excitement. and the scenes certainly will live in the memory of these people for very, very long. one thing these people do want is the president to come visit them. he did as a senator in 2006. they want him to come in his second term as a president. she said he won an election. he has to work hard for the people who elected him but maybe when he can he should come visit me. >> are there expectations that he will do that when he finds some time? >> reporter: well, it so. i think people are realistic in the first term with the economy and the situation in the states, he couldn't come over here. when he came in 2006 as senator, it was just crazy crowds throughout kenya.

florida, cnn is projecting that bill nelson has won. this is another disappointment for republicans. they were disappointed in the republican candidate, who just didn't perform very well against this incumbent democrat in a pretty competitive state. delaware, tom carper, one of the few remaining moderates in the senate, democrat, he is winning re-election, we project. maryland, cnn is projecting senator ben cardin is going to win. same goes for sheldon whitehouse, democratic senator from rhode island. cnn projecting he has won another term. still, the drama is in those competitive races. those too close to call. we will go back to the state of indiana. look at this. it is still pretty -- it was pretty close but look at this. joe donnelly, the democratic candidate, pulled ahead of richard mourdock. he is a republican candidate who made the big faux pas in talking about the fact he believes pregnancy as a result of rape is a gift from god. he plummeted in the polls. 29% reporting right now but so far, joe donnelly looks like he is ahead.
